Most of time, I check the top trade volumn funds, the assumption is the track record was proved. Eg. Aberdeen Pacific Equity is really good, appears on the list every week, one of the recommened funds by Fundsupermart.
Also I check the major indices, there is always up and down, the key is to "buy low, sell high".
I have to say I am not good at trading yet, that's why I choose to invest on mutual funds. The best thing is we just recovering from a serious recession, the safe margin is higher than years ago, you will agree if you simply look at the major indices.
